UHF Elects Communications Expert Melanie Grayce West to Board

NEW YORK, NY—January 24, 2024—United Hospital Fund announced today that it has elected Melanie Grayce West, a communications executive and former journalist and fundraiser, to its Board of Directors.

Ms. West is a managing director for the health team at FGS Global, a strategic communications and advocacy firm where she provides clients with communications counsel and support, including expertise in message development and delivery, executive positioning, and issues management. FGS partners with companies and organizations to engage their stakeholders at their most critical moments and on their most important issues.

Ms. West joined FGS after 15 years reporting for The Wall Street Journal, where she covered U.S. news and health in New York. She helped launch the Journal’s Greater New York section in 2010 and has reported on health, breaking news, politics, and philanthropy. She began her career as a major gifts fundraiser for a political action committee and several nonprofits in Washington, D.C.

“We are thrilled that Melanie has joined our board,” said United Hospital Fund Chair John C. Simons. “She brings a unique combination of experience to UHF as a communications executive, a former journalist with 15 years of newsroom experience at one of the world’s most prestigious newspapers, and success as a political and nonprofit fundraiser. We are very excited to tap Melanie’s expertise and get her advice on how to reach more people, more effectively, about UHF’s critically important work to improve health care and health equity in New York.”
