Special Events

The Fund hosts a number of special events each year to recognize outstanding leadership and voluntary efforts in the work of improving New York’s health care. Each provides opportunities to support the Fund’s own work, while celebrating the dedication and important role of health care and community leaders and volunteers.

Gala

Bringing together health care, business, and community leaders, the annual gala honors extraordinary contributions to hospitals and health care in New York.

The 2010 Gala will be held on Monday, October 4, and will honor Kenneth E. Raske with the Health Care Leadership Award, Paula L. Root and Leon Root, MD, with the Distinguished Community Service Award, and the Sisters of Charity of New York with the Special Tribute.

Tribute to Hospital Trustees

With the annual presentation of its Distinguished Trustee Award, the Fund salutes the exemplary service and dedication of the volunteer leaders who govern the Fund’s beneficiary not-for-profit hospitals, New York’s municipal hospital system, and hospitals participating in the United Hospital Fund/Greater New York Hospital Association quality improvement collaboratives.

The 2010 Tribute to Hospital Trustees was held on May 14 and honored 38 distinguished trustees from hospitals across New York City, Westchester, Long Island, and New Jersey.

Hospital Auxilian and Volunteer Achievement Awards

This annual event honors individuals selected for their outstanding service as volunteers and auxiliary members, as nominated by the Fund's beneficiary, not-for-profit hospitals and the hospitals of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation.

The 2010 awards ceremony was held on March 19 and recognized 93 volunteers from 54 hospitals throughout the five boroughs.   Colleagues, friends, and families can recognize honorees with special contributions to the Fund.
