To improve the hospital experience by engaging volunteers as Caregiver Support Coaches to provide support and one-on-one practical assistance to family caregivers struggling to care for a loved one who is hospitalized or in treatment.

This grant will support the launch of a Caregiver Support Program that will recruit and train volunteers to serve as caregiver coaches.  Volunteers will provide emotional support and practical assistance to family caregivers of seriously ill hospitalized patients, teach them about hospital services, and direct them to community resources and other resources such as the Fund’s Next Step in Care materials.  The hospital will establish a Caregiver Support Center, where caregivers can speak with volunteers, have quiet time away from their loved one’s bedside, or access online resources.
