James R. Tallon, Jr., is president of the United Hospital Fund of New York.
Mr. Tallon’s numerous leadership roles have included serving as chair of The Commonwealth Fund and the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured. He was Secretary/Treasurer of the Alliance for Health Reform; on the boards of the Institute on Medicine as a Profession, the New York eHealth Collaborative, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, and the Center for Health Policy Development; and a member of the advisory board for the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence. He also served for fifteen years as a member of the New York State Board of Regents.
A member of the New York State Assembly for nineteen years, Mr. Tallon chaired the health committee from 1979 to 1987 and served as Majority Leader from 1987 to 1993. He has held visiting lecturer appointments at the Columbia University and Harvard University Schools of Public Health.
